Jewel Cave...

We took the 2 o'clock tour of Jewel Cave. We walked 723 steps both up and down for a half mile tour although after the canyon hike it felt like 5 miles. It was 49 degrees in the cave. There have been 182 miles of cave found making it the 3rd longest cave in the world. Our park ranger said that air flow studies showed that Jewel Cave has only been 3% discovered. We rode elevators down into the cave and out of the cave. There was a formation that looked like a soda straw and a big slice of bacon. What an exciting day.

  2. No bats here but over in the historic 1 mile lantern tour there are bats and pack rats.
